Missing US tourist Kelly Jones found alive
Missing American tourist Kelly Katherine Jones (42), who disappeared without a trace last Saturday, has been found alive in Co Donegal.
Fears had been growing for her safety but she was found in a building near Colmcille and is currently being moved by helicopter to hospital.
She was found by local volunteers who had been searching for her with the Gardai.
The search party included the Donegal and Sligo/Leitrim Montain Rescue teams, the Killybegs Coast Guard and the Sliabh League Walkers.
While she is understood have no injuries, she is believed to be suffering from hypothermia.
She had become a familiar face in the area in the past fortnight but hadn’t been seen since last Saturday.
From Georgia, Ms Jones is a hill-walking and hiking enthusiast, but on Saturday afternoon someone matching her description was seen walking up a mountain path just outside the village.
She had been staying at the Malinmore Adventure Centre, a hostel 2lm from Glencolmcille.
Dozens of personnel and local volunteers had searched by land, sea and air in an attempt to find her as her worried father made arrangements to travel to Ireland.
The missing woman's father had given permission to Gardai to copy her passport picture so it could be released to the public, in the hope that someone may have seen Ms Jones since the last unconfirmed sighting at 5pm last Saturday.
