Missing student's body found in wood
THE body of a Leaving Cert student who had been missing for more than a week has been found in a wooded area.
It is understood a search party discovered the body of 18-year-old Cormac Clare in woods in Rathcoole, Co Dublin -- about three miles from his home in Kilteel, Naas, Co Kildare.
Gardai are not treating his death as suspicious. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
Cormac's body was found after numerous garda appeals and large-scale searches involving up to 400 people.
The Naas CBS student, who disappeared on October 22, had a younger brother aged 11 and an older brother aged 20.
The last confirmed sighting of Cormac was by his older brother in the family home around 2am on the day he went missing.
There had been no activity on his bank account during the past week and he left his mobile phone at home. A number of sightings of Cormac were not confirmed.
Hundreds joined the search for him and gardai listed his case as a priority.
Gardai, the Civil Defence and mountain-rescue teams all joined the searches. At one stage they concentrated the search around farmland in Kilteel.
Then the grim news spread yesterday that the teenager, described as a "kind and gentle chap" by his father Seamus, had been found dead in woods.
