GARDAI have received calls from the public here after it emerged a young girl missing from the UK could be in Ireland.

English police believe it is possible 11-year-old Kathleen Doherty, from Greenford in London, may be here and have appealed for any information on her whereabouts.

She was declared missing last week along with her sister Biddy (14), who was found last night in north London.

Police are now urging extra diligence when it comes to finding Kathleen.

Connections

Both girls are members of the travelling community and they are believed to have family connections to north London, where Biddy was discovered, and also to Ireland.

"One of the sisters has now been found and we believe Kathleen could be in a part of north London or, potentially, the Republic of Ireland," said a Metropolitan Police spokes-person.

Biddy is currently in the care of her local authority and the High Court have issued a similar writ for Kathleen.

Anyone with information on Kathleen's whereabouts is urged to contact gardai on the confidential line +353 800 666 111.
