Miriam calls tune for record attempt

BROADCASTER Miriam O'Callaghan has praised her new 'Prime Time' co-host David McCullagh, saying he brings a "good sense of humour" to the table.

She said the now-infamous photo that McCullagh tweeted during this summer's heatwave, which showed him wearing casual shorts with a shirt and suit jacket, shows he doesn't "take himself too seriously". A sense of humour is an asset in the job, with Mario Rosenstock always on hand to poke fun at Ireland's best known broadcasters.

O'Callaghan said she loves Rosenstock's impression of her, but it is still strange to see him in character.

The mother of eight was speaking at the launch of 'Stars, Choirs and Carols', an event which aims to break a Guinness World Record by bringing together the world's largest group of Christmas carol singers.

O'Callaghan will lead the event, which takes place on December 19 in Croke Park. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to two Irish charities – Cliona's Foundation and the Sanctuary.
