Michelle Doherty : Xpose felt like the first day of school, but I was straight into thick of it
I woke up on Monday feeling like it was the first day of school. I started on Xpose and was straight into the thick of it -- filming and putting together my first video package.
I'm taking over from Aisling O'Loughlin for the next six months while she's on maternity leave. They're big shoes to fill -- she's done such a great job but I'm up for the challenge.
It was a little intimidating but once I got into Ballymount it felt like home. I used to present a music show on Channel 6 which is now 3e so there are plenty of familiar faces. And I'm very chatty so every other person I was saying hello to or catching up with. It really does feel like a bit of a family.
I was in at the deep end; learning how to edit TV packages. It was very hands-on but I'm a hard worker so love the challenge. I'm staying with a friend while I'm in Dublin and was exhausted when I got home at the end of the day.
On Wednesday I arrived into the office to find a massive bunch of flowers sitting on my desk. They were from my mum and dad and I thought it was so cute. They're delighted I'm back home in Ireland and this is one of the few shows I've worked on that they will actually watch.
When I was working on the trendy music shows -- they didn't really have a clue what was going on. They would say 'Who's that. What is this awful racket?' But they are big fans of Xpose.
It's also really nice because I can just zip up the road to Donegal every other weekend to see them.
I shot a video package on Wednesday with stylist Courtney Smith -- I've know Courtney for years and it was a fun shoot to be part of. We were chatting about this Irish underwear brand.
It's really nice getting to show off my girly side. I think for ages people thought I was only about music but I love my make-up and my clothes so getting to check out Irish labels is a definite perk of the job. This week I headed to Kuzumi to get my hair done by Jenny Crawford. So it was nice to get the mane sorted out.
I'm also loving getting dolled up in dresses. I'm really enjoying getting the hair and make-up done every day.
I would describe my style as laid back rock chick with a feminine twist. Kate Moss is my style icon -- she can do no wrong in my eyes.
I was down in the Morgan hotel for a shoot. It's a very cool hotel and it's fun getting out of Ballymount for a bit.
There is real variation in the job and that's one of my favourite things about it. Every day is a bit different; you're chatting about blusher one day and interviewing a Hollywood hunk the next. I think any girl would like that.
My boyfriend Mark O'Shea arrived in Dublin this morning. I would have loved to have met him at the airport but I had to head to work instead.
I'm so excited to see him; the excitement has been building all week. When I finish work today I'll be racing home.
I'm totally smitten and think he's The One. He's a good Kerryman. We're both based over in London and have been dating for nearly a year.
Tonight, we'll probably go for something to eat and catch up. After all the hustle and bustle of my first week in the new job I plan on taking things easy and relaxing.
