Michael Healy-Rae 'recovering well' in hospital after attack by a cow
Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae is "recovering well" in hospital after being injured while working with cattle on a farm.
The 49-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident which happened around 6pm yesterday in Kerry.
Initial reports indicated that the politician was kicked and then attacked by a cow.
He was able to get away from the animal but, on the advice of a GP, he was taken to Cork University Hospital to have his injuries fully assessed after there were concerns he had suffered a fracture.
Friends and family were in the vicinity on the farm and were able to assist him.
A statement has been released on behalf of the Kerry Deputy this morning which stated that he is "currently recovering in Cork University Hospital".
Deputy Healy-Rae will be kept in Cork University Hospital for tests and observation.
His son Jackie Junior said; "my father is recovering well at present".
