Clonakilty Methodist Church has become the first Irish church to receive two Eco-Congregation Ireland (ECI) awards in recognition of its environmental achievements.
Sr Catherine Brennan, ECI chairperson, said she was delighted to present Clonakilty Methodists with the award. "You are living God's love for the whole of creation in all your eco-ministry. Congratulations on your work in saving energy and reducing your carbon footprint," she said.
Bike lovers on road to the Olympia
STARS from the world of motorcycle racing are coming to the Olympia Theatre on March 11 for the 'On the Road' show which includes a full AV presentation. Author and motorcycle photographer Steve Davidson will take part.
US play with Irish roots comes home
For Love, a new play by New York-based Irish actress/ writer Laoisa Sexton, has its off-Broadway premiere at the Irish Repertory Theatre in NYC from March 13 to April 5.
The play then transfers to the Derry Playhouse; Belfast Grand Opera House; Theatre Royal, Waterford (April 22-23; Ballymun's Axis Theatre (April 24-25); and the Viking Theatre (April 29-May 4).
Former pro boxer John Duddy makes his acting debut in his hometown of Derry, playing all the male roles.
Agatha Christie classic goes on tour
Agatha Christie's classic murder play, The Mousetrap, is the world's longest running stage production – playing 60 years in London's West End. It goes out on its first Irish tour at the Bord Gais Theatre for one week, June 24-29.
AA hosts open meeting for public
THE Dun Laoghaire-Monkstown AA group hosts a public meeting at Monkstown Community Centre, off Monkstown Avenue, at 8.30pm tomorrow, March 4. All are welcome.
New pro-bike and quad track opens
Ireland's first designed and planned bike track opened last week in the Midlands. The track is on land leased by Bord na Mona to local start-up firm Derryarkin Motocross.
The Arrive and Ride track is near Junction 3 on the M6 and is expected to attract quad drivers and bikers from all over. The track is 1,800m long and varies between 6m and 10m wide, incorporating a series of turns, jumps and straights, in accordance with Motorcycle Ireland rules.

Arnotts launches fashion initiative
This March and April, Arnotts department store will host a celebration of contemporary Irish designers, launching to coincide with St Patrick's Day.
The initiative will support Irish design with dedicated displays and through Meet The Designer events, installations, and live demonstrations with the designers in the Henry Street windows. The celebrations will take place in association with the Crafts Council of Ireland, which promotes works imagined, designed and made in Ireland – like the JR Hummingbird print dress, right.
