Medieval party turns back clock
AN HISTORIC Irish castle turned the clock back 600 years yesterday with a good-humoured invasion of Vikings, Normans, British 'red coats' and even US paratroopers.
The Carrigtwohill Medieval Festival at Barryscourt Castle in east Cork attracted crowds of up to 10,000 people to savour its lavish historical re-enactments and country fair exhibits.
The event recreated a medieval weekend at the 15th century castle complete with period costumes.
The event aims to establish itself as the biggest medieval party in Europe.
