McGuinness tops poll after debate
ALMOST half of voters in an online poll believe Martin McGuinness came out on top during a televised presidential candidate's debate on RTE's 'Late Late Show' on Friday night.
Mr McGuinness got 46.2pc in the online poll by bookies Paddy Power.
Entrepreneur and 'Dragon's Den' panellist Sean Gallagher came in second with 14.2pc of the vote, according to the poll of 485 participants.
In third place was Senator David Norris, who received 11.1pc of the vote, followed by Labour's Michael D Higgins, who garnered just 10.3pc of the vote.
Fine Gael's Gay Mitchell got 6.4pc; followed by Mary Davis with 2.9pc.
Paddy Power is still betting on Mr Higgins to win the race for the Aras with odds of 4/7.
