McDonagh: Importing beef is 'a disgrace'

Fast-food boss Pat McDonagh has branded the practice of importing beef "a disgrace" in light of the horse-meat scandal saying: "I don't see why in an agricultural country which is exporting in excess of €2.1bn in cattle and beef every year, that we should be importing beef in the first place."

The Supermac's founder (pictured) appeared on the 'Late Late Show' last night and moved to reassure his customers that burgers sold in his chain were "100pc Irish beef" after his supplier for the past 30 years, Rangeland Foods, became embroiled in the controversy. It told him his burgers were not affected, Mr McDonagh said.
