Matt Loughley, a father of two, is attempting to climb Croagh Patrick in Co Mayo every day for a year in aid of the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Our photograph shows Matt (32) preparing for his latest assault on the Reek in yesterday's Arctic conditions.

"It's not as serene or easy to walk on as it was during the thick snow a couple of weeks ago," he said.

A round trip to the summit which took him 84 minutes in summer is taking him almost an hour longer these days.

To support Matt's fundraising drive, go to facebook croaghpatrick365.com. He hopes to raise €100,000 by June 4, 2011.
