Former Fianna Fail minister Mary O'Rourke has signed a publishing deal for a follow-up to her bestselling biography, Just Mary.
Mrs O'Rourke has committed to writing a book, which has the working title Three Centuries, Two Families, exploring the Lenihan dynasty and her family heritage, including her family's role in the War of Independence and the Civil War.
"I have so many interesting relations, including one who was a double spy," she said. "But it . . . will require an awful lot of research, so it won't be a quick book," she said.
"It is likely to be published toward the autumn of next year. I'm sure many people have interesting stories to tell about their family's past, I know I certainly do."
Mrs O'Rourke is believed to also be working on a shorter-term project with a small group of other people but no details are yet available on it.
The confirmation of her second book comes after the former public enterprise minister outsold all Irish rivals last year with Just Mary.
