Mary recruits her 'hot sons' to woo female voters
IT'S a family affair for Team Mary as presidential hopeful Mary Davis roped her two sons into helping her canvass at the Dublin Horse Show yesterday.
The inclusion of Johnny (29) and Paddy (22) on the campaign trail was nothing short of a masterstroke given that it was Ladies' Day at the RDS and there were plenty of young women on the loose.
A spokeswoman for Independent candidate Ms Davis said she was happy to confirm both men were single after they were dubbed her "hot sons" on one website.
And clearly proud of their mammy, the strapping boys sported matching "Mary Davis for President" ties.
It's not the first time a member of the family has worn their support as a badge of honour. Last week Ms Davis's daughter, Emma, hit the Galway Races with an eye-catching hat bearing her mother's name.
Meanwhile, the other presidential candidates had a quiet day yesterday, with Fine Gael's Gay Mitchell enjoying a few days off with his wife before he hits the campaign trail with a vengeance this weekend.
Labour's Michael D Higgins will be pounding the pavements on a whistle-stop tour of Cork today, kicking-off with breakfast at the English Market before doing a city centre walkabout.
He had better watch out for rival Independent candidate Sean Gallagher, who will also be in Cork meeting members of the Cork Chamber.
