Tourism Ireland -- which is a member of the ITIC -- has awarded two new contracts to companies outside the Republic.

It comes after Failte Ireland earlier this year gave a contract for new uniforms to a company in Bangor, Co Down.

An email marketing tool that will allow Tourism Ireland to target people for its marketing campaigns is to be provided by Aspen Marketing Services in New Jersey, US.

And Tourism Ireland has just awarded to Belfast-based Editorial Solutions a contract for the "development and delivery of editorial PR content" for a newsletter.

ISME has previously criticised state bodies for persistently failing to follow the "economically most advantageous tender".

This means the agency must look beyond the price and see if awarding a contract to one company over another will aid the local economy.
