A young runner remains in a serious condition after collapsing at the finishing line during the Dublin City Marathon.
It’s believed Ricki Savage (27) suffered a heart attack after completing the epic run.
Organisers of the marathon said the man was treated at the scene by St John’s Ambulance, who then transferred him to nearby St Vincent's Hospital, where he is now in a serious condition.
Mr Savage was resuscitated after he fell just after completing the 26-mile race.
The young man, from Ramsgate in Kent, England was running to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and had finished the race in three hours and ten minutes.
The man's difficulties put a dampener on what had been - until then - a feelgood event for Ireland, as the country claimed the winner in both the men's and women's events for the first time in 20 years.
