Many farmers aren't ready for digital TV
Almost three-quarters of farmers surveyed at the National Ploughing Championships have converted their television sets to digital TV or Saorview.
But with just three weeks left until the national changeover to the digital television service on Wednesday, October 24, a considerable proportion of rural homes have yet to sign up for the new service.
Some 72pc of the farmers who responded to the Farming Independent survey said they had either signed up for Saorview or with another digital provider. However, 28pc have still to do so.
Television broadcasts on the existing aerial service will cease from October 24 and from this date all television owners will need an aerial and either a Saorview-approved TV or a Saorview-approved set-top box.
