Man's body lay undiscovered for six months

A FORMER 'Irish Press' machinist died at least six months before his body was discovered, an inquest heard.

Joseph Hussey (63) was found by gardai in his flat at Pearse House in the city centre on October 5, 2011, after a neighbour raised the alarm.

A carton of milk in the fridge had an expiry date in April.

Dublin Coroner's Court heard from his daughter Sandra Hussey that he was last due to visit his family the previous Christmas but had not turned up. This was not unusual, she said.

Mr Hussey had a problem with alcohol and was not in regular contact with his family.

His decomposed body made it impossible to establish the cause of death and Coroner Dr Brian Farrell returned an open verdict.
