Manhunt underway for thief who escaped on motorbike after threatening staff in armed robbery

GARDAI are on the hunt for a man who threatened staff and stole a sum of cash at a garage on Dublin's northside.

The man who arrived at the premises with one other person by motorbike, was wearing a scarf around his mouth and head approached staff as they were locking up in the Newtown Industrial Estate, Coolock last night.

After threatening two staff members with a firearm and demanding money, he is understood to have escaped with a sum of cash, believed to be a little under €1000.

None of the staff members are believed to have been injured in the robbery.

Witnesses described the suspect as approximately 5ft 11ins, wearing dark bottoms & a dark tracksuit top with white runners.

He spoke with a Dublin accent and escaped on motorbike.

There is no description of the motorcyclist, but the motorbike has been described as a large Scrambler type bike with blue & white fairings with no registration or no lights.
