GARDAI have launched a manhunt for a suspected paedophile believed to be hiding in north Dublin.

David Swift (53) of Sparkhill in Birmingham failed to appear in court to answer charges of downloading child porn in December of last year.

Police have been searching for him since – and issued a public appeal in March for information.

British police now believe he is in hiding in north Dublin, and have sought the assistance of the gardai in tracing him.

Authorities in the UK believe he has connections in the Swords area.

Det Con Lindsey Seeley, of the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “We continue to make enquiries and we will continue to search for him.

“We are led to believe that he may have connections to the Swords area of Ireland, a region of Dublin.

“However, we cannot be certain he is in Ireland and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact their local police as soon as possible.”

Swift, who was born in Stirling, Scotland, was described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall and with a Scottish accent.
