Man suffers serious injuries in Dublin stabbing overnight

A man who was attacked in Tallaght yesterday evening suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and head it has emerged.
The 40 year old victim, from the Glenshane area of Tallaght was set upon by another man on Cookstown Way at around 6pm and found seriously injured near the Belgard Square apartments.
His attacker is said to have escaped the scene in a small black car according to witnesses.
The victim was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where his injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.
A motive for the attack is not known and gardai are keeping an open mind in their investigations.
The victim is well known to gardai with convictions stretching back to 1990.
He has convictions for trespass, larceny, burglary, assault, possession of an offensive weapon and drug related crimes.
Gardai at Tallaght are investigating.
Witness accounts and CCTV will be central to the case according to garda sources.
