Man struck by train on tracks close to Newbridge

Emergency services rushed to the scene of an accident near Newbridge where a person was struck by a train this evening.
The accident occurred around 3.45pm when the man was struck on tracks near Newbridge.
All train services to and from Heuston station were delayed until the scene was cleared at around 5.30pm.
A spokeperson for Iarnrod Eireann said: "The line has reopened."
Most of the 17 trains which were due to depart Heuston station between 3.45pm and 6pm were delayed as a result of the accident.
And some of the 11 services which were due to arrive at Heuston during this time, were also affected.

Iarnrod Eireann says there will be knock-on delays during the evening.
While emergency services were at the scene, many trains which were already on their way to Heuston were stuck on platforms aroudn the country.
