Man stabbed as knife raiders steal €1,700 in terrifying home burglary

Ken Foy

A 29-YEAR-old man suffered a number of cut injuries when he was attacked with a knife during a burglary at his home.

The victim was the sole occupier of the house in The Paddocks estate in Termonfeckin, Co Louth, when a three-man gang burst in at 8.40pm on Monday.

A source said the burglars left the house with around €1,700 in cash.

The victim received superficial injuries after being cut a number of times in the stomach. His partner was not in the house at the time but raised the alarm on her return.

It is understood the victim – a well respected member of the community who works in the building trade – was held down by the thugs who stabbed him in the stomach.

They had entered the house through the front door which was unlocked. No arrests have yet been made and gardai in Drogheda are appealing for witnesses after they carried out an examination of the scene yesterday.
