Man shot in the head in Dublin

Ed Carty

A man has been shot in the head in south inner city Dublin.

The victim was targeted in the Inchicore area at 2.50pm.

A Garda spokesman said the man was alive when emergency crews arrived on the scene at Myra Close off Emmet Road and was rushed to St James' Hospital.

The victim was aged in his late teens, the spokesman said.

There have been no gun killings in Dublin this year and it is almost six months since cousins Mark Noonan, 23, and Glen Murphy, 19, were gunned down in Finglas at the end of last November.
