Man released in investigation into attack on pensioner (96)

A MAN arrested over an attack on a 96-year-old woman who was punched during a burglary has been released without charge.

Gardai released the man, 48, last night and a file is now being prepared for the director of public prosecutions.



Greta Lily was taken to hospital after the attack in her home in Ardarvan, Buncrana, Co Donegal, shortly after midnight last Saturday.



A man was detained in Burt, Co Donegal, on Tuesday.



He was taken for questioning at Buncrana Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.



Ms Lily had been saving to put new windows in her home before being burgled and several thousand euro was stolen.



A fund has been set up in the local credit union to support her.
