A 30-YEAR-OLD man has admitted assaulting a man who died in hospital a few days after the incident.

Daniel McLoughlin, of Joe McDonnell Drive, Sligo, pleaded guilty at Sligo Circuit Court to assault causing serious harm to 60-year-old Cyril Moran in a house at Cartron, Sligo, on August 5, 2010.

It was the only charge put to McLoughlin who was remanded in custody for probation and psychiatric reports before sentence in February.

Mr Moran, who was single, died in Sligo General Hospital four days after the attack.

He once ran junior soccer contests in the area and at one time was secretary of the Sligo-Leitrim and District Junior Soccer League.
