Man killed while shoeing horse in freak accident

A MAN died yesterday in a freak accident as he was shoeing a horse, writes Conor Kane. Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority began investigations into the incident in Co Tipperary.

It happened outside the village of Mullinahone in south Tipperary at about 1pm, when it's believed the man -- named locally as Michael Keating, aged in his 50s -- was shoeing a horse. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated but it's understood the horse may have kicked out at Mr Keating, striking him in the head and causing a fatal injury.

Gardai are treating it as a tragic accident.
