Man killed following accident at recycling centre in Dublin

A MAN was killed and another injured in a tragic accident at a recycling facility this afternoon.

The fatality occurred at the Greenstar waste recycling facility in the Ballymount Industrial Estate in West Dublin at around 3pm.

It is understood the man, who was an employee at the plant, was crushed by a forklift as he was loading or offloading fridge freezers and kitchen appliances from a trailer.

His colleague was also injured in the incident.

Both men were rushed to Tallaght Hospital, where  the 41-year-old was later pronounced dead.

Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations in the tragedy.

However, gardai are not treating the fatality as suspicious and described it as "a tragic incident."
