GardaÍ have appealed for witnesses after a young man was killed when he lost control of his car which overturned after hitting a wall in Co Limerick.

The black Ford Focus left the R515 at Doonmoon, Knocklong, around 11.40pm on Sunday.

The driver, aged in his 20s, was killed instantly in the single-vehicle accident.

The car is understood to have been travelling over a dip in the road when it crashed. A source said the vehicle "ended up on the driver's side" and "was turned over onto one side".

Two men and a woman, who were passengers in the car, were taken to University Hospital Limerick and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
