Man hurt in gun attack

A MAN has been injured following a shooting at a housing estate in Co Louth. The 35-year-old man received non life-threatening injuries in the attack in which he was shot in the leg.

The incident occurred in a laneway in the Moneymore Estate in Drogheda, Co Louth, yesterday at around 6pm. He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he is receiving treatment. Gardai have launched an investigation.

Fisherman airlifted

AN injured fisherman was evacuated from a vessel yesterday off the coast of Co Mayo. The Air Corps CASA aircraft Charlie 252 received a request from the Coast Guard at around 10.30am to provide assistance to the injured man 140 nautical miles off the coast. The aircraft arrived at the scene at 11.50am. The injured man was taken to Sligo General Hospital by helicopter.
