Man hit by a car dies in hospital

A MAN, seriously injured when he was hit by a car on a dual carriageway, died in hospital last night.

Gardai in Midleton, Co Cork, appealed to any witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 6.35pm on Tuesday to contact them.

The 48-year-old man was crossing the dual carriageway on the N25 at Knockgriffin near Water Rock Cross when he was struck by an oncoming car.

Meanwhile, a woman was in a critical condition in hospital last night after she was hit by a car outside a hospital.

The collision occurred at around 8.30pm at Gort Road right outside Ennis General Hospital.
