Man held over drug seizure
A MAN was arrested yesterday after customs discovered 48kg of an East African drug packed in his bags.
The 46-year-old British man was travelling from Dublin to New York when his bags were searched.
Revenue's customs officers discovered a large amount of a drug called 'Khat' packed in two suitcases.
The stimulant drug, generally grown in East African countries, has an estimated street value €100,000.
It was the second seizure of the drug at the airport this week, although the first seizure was significantly smaller, at just 600g.
