A man has been arrested over an arson attack on the home of an 87-year-old woman who had to be rescued by two gardai.
The suspect, who is in his mid-20s, is being questioned over the fire in Cork city last December.
Pensioner May O'Gorman was pulled from her bed by Garda John O'Sullivan and Reserve Garda Peter Clifford when they broke down her door in the early hours of December 13.
It is understood an accelerant was poured through the letter box of her home, at Murrough's Lane off Blarney Street, and set alight.
She was treated for smoke inhalation in hospital.
A Garda spokesman confirmed a man was arrested in the Blarney area and brought to Gurranebraher Garda station for questioning.
He can be held for 24 hours under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
