Man found dead in cell at Cloverhill Prison

A man has died while in custody in Dublin's Cloverhill Prison early this morning.

The Irish Prison Service and An Garda Siochana are investigating the death of the man who was believed to have been recently remanded in custody following an appearance in a Dublin court.

The prisoner was on his own in a cell when he died.

Cloverhill Prison in west Dublin is a remand prison used to hold people who are facing charges but whose cases have not yet gone to trial.
