Man fights for life after lorry accident

A man who was pushing a broken-down car on a busy motorway was fighting for his life last night after being hit by a lorry.

The unnamed man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital at Tullamore, Co Offaly, where he was listed as being in critical condition last night.

It is understood that he and another man were pushing the car along the M6 between Tyrrellspass and Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, at around 2.30pm yesterday when the lorry hit one of the men. The other man wasn't injured.

Gardai urged anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them on 057 933 2102.
