Man fights for life after home assault

A 48-year-old man was fighting for his life in hospital last night after he was assaulted at his home, writes Kathryn Hayes.

Joe O'Donnell from Hyde Road, Limerick, was rushed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick yesterday after he was found unconscious at his home at 11am yesterday.

A man in his 20s was in custody last night in connection with the incident, which gardai believe is linked to a domestic dispute.

It's understood the 48-year-old suffered a very serious head injury.

Gardai at Roxboro are investigating the incident.
