A man is due to appear before court in relation to a gun siege over the weekend.
The 30-year-old man was arrested by gardai on Saturday afternoon after a 13 hour siege which began after neighbours reported suspicious activity.
The incident occurred at a house on the Strandhill Road, Co Sligo.
When gardai arrived, they noticed a damaged patio door and then saw an armed man inside.
A number of shots were fired at gardai, and hit their patrol car.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Gardai returned fired then using a less lethal weapon, a shotgun used to fire bean bags.
The man then barricaded himself into the house.
A garda negotiator then arrived in a bid to end the siege and the man agreed to come outside.
The man is due to appear before a special sitting of Sligo District Court later today and is expected to be charged in relation to the incident.
