The victim, who was aged in his 20s and travelling alone at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry escaped without any injuries.
Gardai said the accident happened between Parkanna Cross Road and Davis Cross, on the Blarney to Bweeng Road, in Cork at approximately 11.30am.
This stretch of road remained closed for a forensic investigation and local diversions are in place.
