Man dies following fatal road collision in Tipperary

A man has died following a fatal road collision in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred at Turtulla Cross, Turtulla, Thurles yesterday afternoon at approximately 3.10pm.

The collision occurred a kilometre outside Thurles between a car and a 47-year-old pedestrian.

The car was driven by 32-year-old man and was also carrying three children, none of whom were injured in the crash.

The male pedestrian was treated for his injuries at the scene before being transported to South Tipperary General Hospital.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted later on today.

The road was closed to facilitate forensic and technical examination and was reopened yesterday evening.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to contact them at Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
