Man dies after his motorbike hits a pole

A man has died following a motorbike collision last night.

The incident occurred at approximately 7.30pm last night in Tallaght, Dublin.

The victim, who was in his 20s, was travelling on a motorbike when it crashed into a street lighting pole at Homelawn Gardens in Tallaght.

He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead.

The motorbike was removed prior from the scene before gardai arrived.

A search of the area is continuing and investigating gardai are appealing for information.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed and the road has since reopened to traffic.

A post mortem on the victim is expected to take place in the coming days.
