Man dies after car hits wall

A community is in mourning following the death of a local man who was killed in a single-vehicle accident early yesterday morning.

Residents of Barntown, Co Wexford, are deeply saddened after Paul Kelly, (30), of Ballyhine, Barntown, Co Wexford, was killed following a car accident shortly after 5am yesterday.

Mr Kelly died after the car he was driving collided with a wall on the Newtown road adjacent the Wexford County Council water treatment plant.

Fr John Carroll, of St Alphonsus Church in Barntown, said prayers for Mr Kelly and his family during Mass yesterday.

"People are genuinely saddened. Everybody is thinking about his family," he told the Irish Independent.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
