Man 'collapses and dies on driveway after discovering intruders at his home'

GARDAI are investigating the possibility that a man collapsed and died shortly after discovering intruders at his home.

The body of the man - understood to be in his 60s - was discovered by Gardai in the front drive of his house in Toomaline, on the outskirts of Doon in Limerick this afternoon.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the man's death and on suspicion of committing burglary at the house.

They are being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick City.

Gardai received a tip off around 1.30pm this afternoon and went to the house and found the man's body lying on the ground outside his house.

The man's body is still at the scene.

The man's house has been sealed off and the detective unit from Henry Street Garda station have arrived at the house to conduct inquiries.

The Garda Technical Bureau has been requested and the office of the state pathologist has been notified.

Anyone with information or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Toomaline area this morning or this afternoon is asked to contact Bruff Garda station on 061382940.
