A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found near a rubbish chute at an apartment complex.

Gardai in Cork detained the suspect, in his late-20s, on Tuesday afternoon.

He was being questioned on the death of Liam Manley, whose body was discovered at Garden City Apartments at Northgate Street in the city on May 13.

Gardai in the Bridewell Garda Station said they were holding the suspect under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A post-mortem examination by deputy state pathologist Margaret Bolster found the 58-year-old had been the victim of assault.

Detectives believe Mr Manley may have been homeless when he died.
