Man arrested in connection with seizure of ecstasy tablets and prescribed drugs worth €229,000

A man in his early 40s has been arrested in connection with the seizure of ecstasy tablets and prescribed drugs with an estimated value of €229,000.

Gardaí carried out a planned search of a premises in the Balgaddy area of Clondalkin yesterday at around 8.20pm.

Ecstasy tablets with a value of €225,000 and prescription drugs worth around €4,000 were seized during this search.

The man is currently detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

A garda spokesperson said these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality,” the spokesperson said.
