A MAN in his 30s has been arrested after a man was fatally stabbed in the early hours of this morning after a house party.
A second man has been seriously injured during the same incident which occurred in Shankhill, South County Dublin, at 5.30am this morning.
The incident occurred at Rathsallagh Park.
Two men, both in their late 20s, were found with serious stab injures on the road at Rathsallagh Park in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency service personnel tried frantically to save him but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
It is understood the victim was stabbed following a suspected argument outside a two-storey, semi-detached house in the estate.
It is understood there were young children in adjoining houses at the time of the stabbing, but they did not witness the incident.
The deceased man was discovered on the road with severe injuries and was pronounced death at St Vincents Hospital short time later.
It is understood he had travelled home from Australia for Christmas.
Shocked neighbours of the normally quiet housing estate said "pandemonium broke out" shortly after 5.30am.
"There were cop cars everywhere and there were young kids looking out of bedroom windows trying to see what was going on.
"It's such a tragedy that this kind of thing happened, especially at Christmas. The young man's poor family will be devestated."
They were rushed by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital.
However, one of the men was pronounced dead shortly after 8am this morning.
The second man remains in a serious condition.
Gardai are investigating and the scene at Rathsallagh Park has sealed off for a technical examination.
