GARDAI investigating the murder of Dean Johnson have arrested a 23-year-old man.

The man was arrested early this morning and was taken to Lucan Garda Station of the Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Dean Johnson (21) was shot dead in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity on Neilstown Road, Clondalkin, on August 24.

Sources close to the murder investigation believe that Mr Johnson was not the intended target and that he was shot dead by mistake.

Following the murder, a number of searches were carried out by detectives and two men were arrested but they are not believed to be directly involved with Mr Johnson’s murder.

During the searches, which occurred earlier this month in the Blanchardstown, Clondalkin, Cabra and Kilcock areas, a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and cocaine were found by gardai.
