Man arrested in connection to Mountjoy Square carjacking

A man has been arrested following an assault on a pregnant woman during a car robbery in Dublin’s city centre this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Hill St. near Mountjoy Square at approximately 3pm today.

The 7 months pregnant woman, aged in her 30s, was a passenger in the car at the time.

The car was observed by a passing garda patrol and stopped following a brief pursuit at Sean McDermott St.

A man, aged in his late 20s, jumped out from the car but was apprehended and arrested by Gardaí.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Store St. Garda Station.

The woman was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
