Man arrested following filling station robbery

A man has been arrested following a robbery at a filling station in Waterford.

At approximately 10pm on Wednesday, a man armed with what was believed to be a knife entered a filling station on the New Ross Road in Ferrybank.

The man threatened staff and stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

Gardai in Waterford were notified and, following a search of the area, a plastic bag with a sum of money, a balaclava, and a hoody were located.

Shortly after the discovery a 40-year-old male was arrested in the Dunmore Road area of the city and detained in Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
