Man arrested as gardai seize €234k worth of cannabis in his car

A man in his early 40s stopped at a service station on the M1 and was found with 39 kilos of cannabis resin.

A man has been arrested after gardaí seized an estimated €234,000 worth of cannabis in a car he was driving.

The drug seizure took place after the man in his early 40s stopped at a service station on the M1 and was found with 39 kilos of cannabis resin.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit charged the man yesterday at 9am.

He will appear before Court No 2 CCJ, Parkgate St, Dublin at 10.30am this morning.

The arrest followed an intelligence led operation by the drugs unit.

They stopped him at the M1 service station southbound between junctions 5 and 4.

The male is currently detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
