Man arrested after gardai seize cannabis plants worth €264k

Gardai in Galway have arrested a man after seizing cannabis plants worth more than €264,000.

Gardai carried out a planned search of a house in Ballydonnellan, Corrandulla at 8.30pm on Monday night where they found the drugs.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being questioned at Galway Garda Station, under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A garda statement on the find said these operations use "advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks".k

"Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality," it added.
