Man airlifted to hospital following explosion in Cork

A man is in a serious condition following an explosion in Cork.
The worker, in his 30s, was rushed by helicopter to Cork University Hospital after an oil tank exploded at a steel fabricators in the coastal town of Youghal.
It is understood the man was injured while welding an oil tank in the Millennium Court Industrial estate on the outskirts of the town at around 9:30 am.
The man is believed to have received severe burns from the blast and was knocked unconscious.
HSE emergency services attended at the scene and the injured man was later airlifted to CUH via the Irish Coastguard Sikorski helicopter Rescue 117 from Waterford.
Two units from the Cork County Fire Service responded to the incident.
The Health and Safety Authority told Independent.ie that it had been notified about the explosion and that it was investigating.
